Jim Staton Award Certificate for Most Participation Ribbons in Brownsburg, Indiana

Congratulations, Jim Staton!

We would like to acknowlege your strong participation in Town public and private meetings as a major contributor to achieving the Vision. Your passion for industrial zoning approvals could be motivated as a warehouse-loving Brownsburg resident, a supporting husband that will not leave his wife's side, an insecure husband that will not leave his wife's side, a state-level IEDC member, an Indiana Interim Secretary of Commerce, a co-worker bestie of the primary industrial landowner, all of these things or none of these things. No matter what the source, we just want to take a moment to commemorate you as the Best Town-Manager-in-law and BOGO deal that Brownsburg has ever seen! Now that you have moved on from the IEDC and are currently helping AES get their waaaaayyyyy more than 3%, we would like to take a trip down memory lane with examples of your relentless participation:

  • 8/10/20 - Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting - Jim testifies to support Project Aisle with a 150' height variance request right next to residential homes - See video here.
  • 6/9/21 - Town Hall Special Meeting - No video available, but Jimmy made a suggestion that Industrial Zoning should continue to the North. That seems to be the ONLY suggestion that the Town followed from hours of citizen testimony from this meeting, so thank you for providing the needed evidence that Town government listens to suggestions from residents. Well, one resident.
  • 6/14/21 - Advisory Plan Commission Meeting - Watch Jim chastise the APC members for daring to NOT approve decreasing buffering standards and increasing warehouse size beyond current limitations next to residential properties. The local neighbor simply built their own buffering with a beautiful concrete fence after this was eventually approved, so win-win? See video here.
  • 9/25/21 - Special Meeting with Town Council and Commissions - Jim is not a paid consultant for Brownsburg, yet he donates his time to present to Town government on a Saturday. What a hero! Thank you, Jim, for educating us all! - See video here.

These are just a few examples of your interference participation in the Town of Brownsburg government. Thank you for bringing this Vision to life for us all!
