Congratulations, Travis Tschaenn!

While most Town Council Presidents would simply pat themselves on the back after winning the "#1 Best Suburb next to a Large City" National Award, you seem to want to create an independent identity for Brownsburg through economic development. Why should Brownsburg live in the shadow of the Circle City when we can now be known as the Ridiculous Rectangle Region? Anyone entering through one of our gateway entrances on US 136, I-74 or Ronald Reagan Parkway can appreciate that almost immediately.

Your enthusiasm for more tax revenue has grown well beyond the 3% development Vision, as evidenced by your leadership in increasing taxes for local residents in multiple ways this year alone. As Brownsburg Fire Territory Board President, you led them in instituting a 164% tax increase on all Brown and Lincoln Township residents for fire services to maintain their current budgets. Why? Because the Town government has absorbed their 45% claim of the Local Income Tax base. You seem happy to sacrifice the reputation of Brownsburg Fire Territory to gain the advantage over their $3.6 million dollar annual tax revenue fund. Brilliant move, Mr. President(s)! But even that does not seem to satiate your ambition as you continue your strategic attack for more tax revenue. As President of Town Council, you have now capitalized on your position by increasing local property taxes for residents by an additional 4-5%. Check and mate! Truly, congratulations on your well-calculated success towards the Vision for more tax revenue! And also for not getting recalled.

We suspect that your ambitions will lead you to elections outside of our little Town Council sometime soon. Please know that there are literally thousands of unincorporated Brownsburg citizens that cannot wait to finally participate in one of your elections where their vote will count.
